Business Cards

Eddie and I have printed the Prolifera business cards out ready for the crit so we can get feedback on the design and layout of them. 

We put come of the imagery behind the lazer cut design which creates a colourful pattern behind the grey pattern. We left the back nice and simple so the focus is on the front. 

I am not totally sold by putting the images behind i like the clean feeling of the laser cutter and i think it makes it look a bit messy. 

These are lazer cut designs w are going to add a back and an image behind them. The two different laser cut designs work very well together and am happy with the results. 

Experiment Paper

This is the laser cut covers of the experimenta journals we have laid out. We did a big lazer cut design but i feel like it's to big and now takes away the detail and elegance of the symbol and think it works much better small. 

I think we will laser cut this again but to a smaller size similar to the folders as i think they work really well. 

This design cut to near the edge so we stopped it half way through cutting as it take quite a long time to cut out that design and there wan't any point wasting our time when we knew it was a bad cut out.

Photo Jornal

This is the laser cut design with a few test prints of eddie's photo-jornal. We wanted to see if the laser cut cover worked with the front pages. I feel the design is cut to big and dominates the cover far to much. 

You are able to get a good view of the images behind but i am really unhappy with the size it just looks very unprofessional and looks like i am to proud of my logo and wanted it as big as possible. I think i will redo these and make it a more reasonable size. 

Put the print test still allowed us to see the layout of the jornal with a cover and see how that will potentially turn out. 

Lazer Cut Floders

This is the folder which we lazer cut. we kept it simple and used the same stock as the rest of the items so it fitted it. It's just a normal folder net just over A4 size and with a small logo cut out of the corner. 

Very happy with how they have turned out but did have some burn marks round the edges and also in the cut out symbol. Can't really do anything about this but maybe have a go at them with a rubber. 

Photo Jornal and Folders

Eddie has created a photo jornal to go along side the experiment papers. I put together the lazer cut document to go with it.

Lazer Cut and Screw Bind

I had the idea to screw bind the papers as i think its very relevant to the material that is going into the document. I bought some white screws so to go with the white we plan to screen print onto the covers so we can have a white finish. Above is a mocked up design of what we want it to look like when its done.

Initial Drawings For Paper Bind

Here are a few drawings of the ideas for how i want to bind the paper i have layed out. There was a few different bind methods that i drew up but the one that intrigued me the most was a the screw bind. I feel this is a very appealing bind for what type of content i will be using.
Been a scientific paper i think it would fit extremely well as they tend to be cheap binding methods such as a spiral bind but a screw would give it that edge but still at a really low cost and low effort bind.

On another of my drawings i mentioned lazer cutting the logo out of the cover. I think i will experiment with this also and feel that the logo i have created will work very well when cut out.

Business Cards

I now had a go at creating business cards on Indesign and i found it much better to work with compared to illustrator. 

Lazer Cutting Business Cards

These are the two patterns i wish to create on the lazer cutter. I personally wanted to go for the large logo that covers 4 cards but Eddie preferred the smaller logo so we plan to do one of set of each. I am really excited to take these to the lazer cutter and see if the pattern comes out nicely. i have faith that the gaps between the patterns will cut out correctly and it isn't to small to cut. 

Done a quick mock up of what we plan the front of the business cards to look like. We chose a grey stock for all our work with a blue theme to go with it. The image behind the pattern is one we were sent by the client. i really enjoy working with these images as they are stunning and not something you get to work with or see very often.

Here just had a quick few experiments with business cards not going to peruse these much further and now i am more used to inDesign due to the paper layout i have done i am using illustrator less. I did these on illustrator but i am going to have a go at business cards on inDesign instead.

Prolifera Experiment

These are the photographed results form our Prolifera experiment. All of our findings are disgusting!

I will not be using any of these images at all. some of them are interesting and its nice to see how much more i should clean but no good for the project.
