i have gone with the thin lines and the white background as it simple and he different colours don't hit you to hard.

Coloured backgrounds don't seem to work to well as again it drains the colour of the lines.

this one bellow i had thicker lines to see how that would change it but i don't like the way it has turned out. there colours stand out to much and looks like a bit of a mess.
i tried the background as black but it seemed to take away the coloured lines and makes it hard to follow.
